A nivel musical, la intérprete de God is a Woman vuelve con una canción puramente pop en la que deja al descubierto, una vez más, su increíble capacidad vocal, aún con muchos menos gorgoritos que en ocasiones anteriores. Siguiendo la línea de Sweetener y Thank U, Next, su anteriores trabajos, Positions aterriza como una pista sobre cómo sonará el nuevo álbum de Ariana Grande.
